Hunt Story
I was sitting in my climber watching does cross back and forth across the trail in front of me, and all of a sudden one of the does walked in the middle of a covey of quail. The quail scattered and the doe ran circles trying to figure out what just happened. You could tell they about had a heart attack. The quail flew across the road and lit again, and I be dang if the same does didn’t ease straight across the road and walked right back in the middle of them. This time when the quail flew the does broke and ran straight back to me and disappeared in the bushes behind me. About 5 minutes later I looked to the left and there was a buck standing there staring at a trail camera hanging on a tree. I could tell it was the 12-point that I’ve got piles of pictures of, but it was hard to judge if he was big enough to make Pope and Young because it was getting dark. I watched the deer for 10 minutes and he finally stepped out in the road in front of me where i could see him better. I sat back and thought for a minute what Tim Wells would do, then I drew back and pinched a arrow right through his heart at 28 yards. The buck crashed through the bushes about 30 yards and all got quiet. I knew he was right there dead, but I gave him about an hour and a half and went and found him 30 yards from where I shot him.
