180-inch Henry County Buck No. 8 In Georgia Last Season
Gerald Gilbert’s 180 1/8-inch bruiser, accidentally listed as a pick-up, was Georgia’s third highest scoring non-typical.

Anyone out there giving Gerald Gilbert, of McDonough, a hard time for his buck, which was listed as a pick-up in GON’s County-by-County Buck Rankings in October, needs to start congratulating him.
Gerald’s 180 1/8-inch net non-typical buck was a legitimate opening-day rifle kill last season. It was our mistake it was accidentally listed as a pick-up in the GON database. As a result, Gerald and his buck were left out of the Fab. 40, Georgia’s best 40 deer of the season, which is published in the August issue every year.
Our apologies, Gerald. The records have been amended to properly record the kill.
It’s not really an excuse, but here’s what happened. Gerald had two deer scored last year. One was his Henry County bruiser, and the other was a rack he picked up. Somehow the method of take got mixed up in the recording process.
So, here are the accolades Gerald should have racked up in this year’s magazines:
Gerald’s buck is the No. 7 deer of all time from Henry County. It was the eighth highest scoring buck killed last year in Georgia. It was also the No. 3 non-typical of the year last season.
It may not make up for the mix-up completely, but GON is sending Gerald a free certificate of his accomplishment to hang on the wall next to his mount. Next time someone calls his buck a pick-up, he can just point to the official certification on the wall.
If you have a buck in the GON County-by-County Buck Rankings or Georgia’s Best Bow Bucks County-by-County and want a handsome certificate to frame, give us a call. For $19.85, we’ll send you a full-color certificate. Look right for details.
And you don’t have to be in the top-10 to qualify. We have records of every Georgia buck that officially nets better than 120 inches and has been GON certified.
