Lake Burton Fishing Reports – September 2020

Burton: Level: Full pool. Temp: 84 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Capt. Wes Carlton reports, “The bass bite has been decent the last few days. Most of the fish seem to be on a normal summer pattern. We have been catching some bigger spotted bass over a 30-foot bottom while drop shotting. Green and morning-dawn colored Roboworms are working best. We typically scan long points near the main-lake channels looking for structure. These fish will be close by. The largemouth bite has been good the last week or so. Zoom frogs worked in and around docks seem to be working best. This pattern should continue for the next few weeks.”

Yellow Perch: Capt. Wes Carlton reports, “The yellow perch bite has been great this summer so far. These fish are piled up in every creek on the lake. Look for heavy grass in the fish finder in the 15- to 20-foot depths. A drop-shot rig tipped with a small Zoom Fluke is working best. These fish take some time to locate, so be patient. The bite is best after the sun is up a little. We have caught some 14- to 15-inchers in the last couple of days. This bite should continue for several more weeks.”
