348 Fish Caught At Youth Fishin’ Rodeo

The Dublin Laurens County Recreation Authority (DLCRA) put on a Youth Fishin’ Rodeo May 5, 2018 at Southern Pines Regional Park, which turned out to be quite a successful day of fishing.

Chrislyn Carr had the biggest catfish at 7 pounds.

“It was a good year this year because we had 28 young ’uns that caught 348 fish,” said Leon Morris, who helps put on the fishing rodeo.

The kids, ages 16 and below, fished in a 3-acre pond for catfish from 7 to 10 in the morning. The biggest catfish weighed around 7 pounds and was caught by one of the youngest kids, 6-year-old Chrislyn Carr.

Leon also mentioned that there were two white catfish that occupied the pond and offered a crisp $20 bill to any of the children who were able to reel one in during the day. One of the children, Kinsley Loyd, managed to catch one and walked away $20 richer.
