Linesides: Guide William Sasser reports, “Hybrid and striper fishing is as good as it gets right now. The bite is coming early in the morning around daybreak and lasting until around 9 or 10 in the morning, and then there is also a great afternoon bite starting around 4 or 5 and lasting until sunset. Everything we are catching is coming from downlining live herring in 35 to 45 feet of water off of main channel points and some secondary points on the mid to lower end of the lake. There has also been some suspended fish coming 25 to 30 feet deep in 50 to 60 feet of water along the edges of the main channel. The hybrid bite has been very fast and furious, and the key is to make sure to keep fresh, lively bait down, otherwise they will break up and move on. There has been some good cut bait fishing going on a little farther up lake around South Carolina Little River, and it has produced some nice 10- to 20-lb. stripers. Working the mid-lake areas such as Dordon Creek and Parksville has been extremely productive. They have started running one of the oxygen lines in Modoc, and some nice hybrids have starting grouping up in that area, and it should only get better.”
