Lake Seminole Fishing Report – January 2006

Seminole: Level: 0.4 feet below full pool. Temp: 61 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Jack Wingate said crankbaits are the thing on Seminole right now. “We had a boat go out on December 20, and he caught nine bass on crankbaits, including two over six pounds,” Jack said. Throw crankbaits around grass lines. The Mann’s Deep 16 is a good choice. Try baits with yellow in them. In January, there should be some bedding activity on Seminole. That’ll be the time to throw a Texas-rigged, motor-oil-colored plastic worm, or flip a frog around the grass or beds. Jack said the first fish to bed will be in the offshore ponds. Crappie: Minnows are the thing on Seminole speckled perch in January. Anglers have been having good success by poling minnows in the Flint River channel. “Just fish straight down off the bow of the boat, and barely move the boat along,” Jack said.
