You pull up to the deer feeder, grab the bag of corn and dump it in, throw the empty bag in the bed of the truck, and then head for home. At the house, you go to grab the trash out of the bed of the truck, but…
“Where’d that empty feed bag go?”
It’s beside the road where it blew out of the truck bed!
Last week from the GON office to Madison, which is less than 5 miles taking the back roads, there were at least four empty bags—one looked to be high-protein feed, but that still counts.
Here’s some truck-bed physics. Full bag of corn, rides real good in a truck bed. Empty bag, blows out every time.
Please put a tire iron on the empty bag, or a brick, something. Or put it inside the truck.
In the meantime, there’s a new driving game for country folks—count the corn bags.

As a landowner with 3 miles of road frontage, I wish corn bags were the only issue. What is dumped on the side of the road and in my gate lanes is a sad commentary on the citizens of this great country. From mattresses to morning constitutionals, dead cats to post party gleanings, these good folks consider roadsides to be the limitless county dump. I believe the custodian of a local small Christian school to be one of the culprits when a dozen outdated desk computers showed up. Must of got the kids new laptops.
Instead of “count the corn bag” I like to play “stop and pickup trash and use the corn bags as trash bags”.
