23-Pound Altamaha River Blue Cat Sets Bench Mark
Brad Gill | October 30, 2013
There’s a new “cat” in town.
The Altamaha River is known for it’s excellent flathead fishery, but it recently gave up a blue cat that was heavy enough to qualify for DNR’s Angler Award Program and will go into GON’s Georgia Lake and River Records.
Eddie Hudson, of Screven, was fishing in the annual Wayne County Catfish Tournament when he caught the 23.18-lb. blue. He was fishing a live bream at the time.
The blue was weighed on certified scales and identified by WRD Fisheries Biologist Tim Bonvechio before being released back into the river.
