Hunt Story

On November 16, 2019, my son, Gabriel Pierce, along with my brother, Scott Pierce, entered the built hunting blind at 4:00 PM. At approximately 4:56 PM a button head stepped out in front of the blind and started eating in the food plot. They watched it for approximately five minutes before the button head moved on. At approximately 5:05 PM a spike buck stepped out behind the blind and crossed the path leading to the blind. They watched it for about two minutes and it moved on. At approximately 5:10 PM the buck that was killed, stepped out from a path cut through the pines on the left side of the blind at approximately forty yards away. The buck started walking directly away and Scott hollered twice to stop the buck in hopes to make the buck turn broadside. While doing so, Scott assisted Gabriel with positioning Gabriel's rifle in the blind for the shot. The attempts to stop the buck did not work. Instead, Scott instinctively grunted with his mouth and the buck wheeled around facing the blind. Approximately three minutes passed until Gabriel was cleared to take the shot. The shot was approximately fifty yards away and head-on. After Gabriel shot, the buck was blown back a few steps and then wheeled around and ran down the original path it was taking and fell. The buck then got up and fell indefinitely approximately ten yards away.
