Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – April 2019

GON Staff | March 25, 2019

Blue Ridge: Level:6 feet below full. Temp:54-55 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Smallmouth and spotted bass have started moving up on main-lake points and spawning areas. I’ve been targeting these areas with a 3.75 Strike King Rage Swimmer and a 3.5-inch tube. Also try a Ned rig with a Z-Man TRD worm in green pumpkin or a Neko rig. There are some fish pulling up in the backs of pockets with docks. Try an umbrella rig or a 1.5 squarebill crankbait. Within the next three weeks, start targeting spawning flats and small rocky bank lines. I have been seeing some baitfish around, so you should be able to catch some fish on a Zoom Fluke. If the water temp stays good, they should start spawning on next month’s full moon.”

Walleyes: Guide Jeremy Seabolt reports, “The walleye are starting to show up in the river. We have been catching them mid river at night on long points flipping herring. April should only get better, and if you are needing herring, Jack’s Creek Bait in Blairsville is your closest place.”
