Hunt Story
First I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to tag this massive buck. I have my favorite stand that I hunt a lot in Wilcox County, but we had originally planned on going to Chickasawhatchee WMA to the muzzleloader hunt this year, but Hurricane Michael quickly changed our plans. I was very disappointed about not being able to go there. I love the camping with family and friends, the cooking, and all the deer stories we share while there. I knew I had this buck on camera at my stand in Wilcox County and had passed on him last year knowing he needed another year. Glad I made that choice to let him walk. On Sunday afternoon 10/14/2018 I climbed in my stand about 5:45 p.m. It was hot, around 6:30 p.m. a doe and yearling came out, as I watching them the doe kept looking in the pines like she knew another deer was coming. About 15 minutes later he stepped out, my heart was beating so hard and I started shaking. I had to talk myself into calming down so I could make a good shot. Finally I shot, and you gotta love the smoke from a muzzleloader, you can't tell which way they run. It seemed like forever and the smoke cleared. I looked down and he had hit the dirt where I had shot him! I was so excited and shaking I could not even climb out of the stand! I am one proud and happy lady!
