Hunt Story
I was hunting on West Point Corp of Engineers Friday afternoon. This buck and another shooter buck came in behind me and I wasn’t able to get a shot so I just filmed them. I went back Sunday afternoon around 4:45 got climbed up and after seeing one of the shooter bucks around 6:30 I was very optimistic. Right at prime time, the 10-point that I was hunting stepped out at 30 yards. I wasn’t sure about my shot. So, I waited about 30 minutes and got down found my arrow. I looked up on the hill and saw my buck. He hadn’t expired yet, so I quickly knocked another arrow and finished him. He had just started to rub his velvet off. I couldn’t be happier. I have always wanted to harvest a velvet buck and thanks to the good Lord for blessing me with this magnificent animal!!
