Lake Hartwell Fishing Report – September 2018

Hartwell: Level: 0.5 feet above full pool. Temp: 82-85 degrees. Clarity: Mostly clear, some stain in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The water level is the highest I have seen in August, and there is more fresh water every week, so the fishing is a little unpredictable right now. The fish seem to be scattered, and there are several patterns working, but none of them are real reliable, so we have been changing it up each week. Most of the fish we have been catching are spots 20 to 25 feet deep on a drop shot rigged with a Zoom Z-drop or finesse worm. With the cooler water, the baitfish have been moving around a lot, so I use my Lowrance electronics to find active fish feeding around the bait. There is a little topwater activity starting to show up, and with the cooler weather we have been having, I think this should continue to get better in September. If I see activity on the surface, I like to use a Zoom Super Fluke and cast it in there fast because they won’t stay up long.”
