Hunt Story

Been hunting in another area and letting my secluded food plot in planted pines rest with no hunting pressure for 2 1/2 weeks. I had not been seeing many deer there. I thought I would let it rest for a later food source when food started getting scarce. I went in at 3:30 on Friday the 1st of December and found fresh scrape on edge of my plot. Settled in my hang-on stand and at 4:30, looked to my left and see this nice buck coming into my plot with his nose in the air. I immediately reach for my bow and look at my wind thread to make sure I'm good. He turns and goes back in woods, and my heart sank thinking he is going to circle plot. But then he turns and starts back toward plot. Before he enters I am at full draw. He steps out, and I release arrow. He trots off, and I can hear him breathing hard. I knew my 20-yard shot looked good. After an hour, my friend and I trail good blood for 200 yards but it looks like a liver hit. So I call a friend with trailing dogs, and we give him a few more hours. We get on his trail, and they take us straight to my biggest buck with a bow.
