Hunt Story
I had two shooter bucks show up on the trail-camera photos two days earlier, so I knew I needed to put some time in the stands to see if I could encounter one of the larger bucks on the farm while they were in the area. The evening hunt started off slow with only a handful of does and fawns showing up in the "finger" food plot, but with about 10 minutes of legal shooting light left I noticed a large bodied deer crossing the narrow plot at about 225 yards. I threw up my binoculars to take a look and realized it was the "G2" buck that had been hanging around the farm most of the/summer/fall. When the buck turned his head, I knew he was shooter and I settled myself for the long shot and dropped him in his tracks about 30 seconds later as he grazed on some rye grass. He had busted and broke his brow tines fighting apparently between his last trail camera photos, but he's still a great buck!
