Hunt Story

I had just got my first deer with a crossbow a few days before, a nice little 5-pointer, but little did I know what I was in store for today. I had seen several does earlier in the day. Then I saw a spike and a small 6-pointer. They were walking straight to where my mother-in-law was hunting. After lunch time, the wood were really quiet. For a long time all that was moving was a couple of squirrels. Then I heard something making it way slowly up the ridge behind me. I glanced behind me a saw a squirrel, and thought that was all, so I kept watching the trail in front of me. After a few minutes I hear it again, I checked behind me again and saw it was a deer. I managed to get my crossbow turned around and the buck gave me a 13-yard broadside shot. When I realized I hit him, there was a whole lot of celebrating (quietly), and I thanked God for my blessings.
