Hunt Story
This was a cool afternoon hunt with high winds. A cool front was approaching and temperatures where beginning to fall. Hunt started with a small buck checking the field from the south. After several minutes I grunted a few times and the small buck worked his way around the stand and left the north side of ag field. As sunset was approaching, wind speeds slowed to a slight constant breeze. A doe approached the field from the south with 8 point following. I watched for several minutes as the buck slowly tailed the doe in the south corner of field. After several minutes the doe lead the buck back into the woods. About 10 minutes and a few more grunts calls the doe came back into the field with the buck following close behind. They made there way across field walking a direct line toward my stand placement. The buck let out several tending grunts and one long grunt which excited the doe into at trot, which stopped 100 yards in front of the stand. The Buck followed and when he stopped, I took the shot. Buck ran a short distance and went down within site. What a great November hunt.
