Hunt Story
Hunted another stand most of the day (until 2 p.m.) until I got down and trimmed some limbs and checked some cams and stuff. Saw 3 does and 5 different bucks (4pt, 6pt and three 8pts but none were mature shooters). They were chasing and grunting all around me. Moved to another stand at 4 p.m. and had a spike eating acorns for awhile, then a lone doe at a corn feeder and then this buck came out. He was extremely cautious as he worked his way slowly to a scrape I had put trophy buck lure and Tinks 69 in. He worked his way through some thick stuff and popped out into the open at 45 yards just a few feet away from the scrape. I was really wishing I had my bow at this point as I usually bow hunt or at least take both. It was cool to watch how much more methodically he moved than all the younger less mature bucks earlier in the day. I wanted to let him get to the scrape and work it but was afraid something would go wrong so I went ahead and took him. I still don't know how but he dropped at first then got up and ran 50 yds and fell again but still wasn't done. I hit him again as he stood back up and he went down for good. We had multiple trail cam pics of this buck and we nicknamed him "King Arthur" because of his jousting pole looking antler sticking out. We believe he was 4.5 yrs old.
