Hunt Story
It was a cold, windy morning. I had seen some does moving through the hardwoods in front of me at daylight. By this time it was about 7:50 (about an hour and a half after daylight), and other than the does, I had not had any action. I decided that I would hit a grunt call. I hit the grunt call, and put it back into my bag. A couple minutes later I heard some rustling in the leaves behind me. I turn around and here comes a mature 8-point. He stopped to make a scrape, and while he was doing that, I got myself situated and was ready to shoot the buck. After he finished the scrape the buck turned and walked straight into my shooting lane, 20 yards from my stand. I took my safety off and shot. As soon as I shot I saw him kick his back legs up and drop his front shoulder, so I knew I hit him good. The buck ran ten yards into the hardwoods, and then fell over 30 yards from my stand. I saw this buck the weekend before chasing does and couldn't get a shot. We also had trail camera pictures of him in velvet from the summer.
