Hunt Story

Walking into the stand, I put a little Tinks 69 on a wick and hung it on a little limb. I had been talking to some people around the county that said they had been seeing some early chasing, so I figured I'd give this a shot and see what happened. When I got to my stand and got settled in, I hit the can call twice and waited. After about an hour, I heard some leaves rustling and I could tell it was deer. I looked over and saw two does feeding down my way along a creek bed. I was just watching them feed around, and that's when I heard a grunt. I hit my can call again, and I saw him cross the creek heading my way. He was walking between a lot of grown up trees, so I was only catching glimpses of him, but I could tell it was a good deer. Before he made it to the opening I had picked out, he saw the two does and started heading their way. I swung around and got into position where I would have a good shot, and when he finally walked through the window I squeezed the trigger. He bolted toward my stand about 30 yards and stopped. He folded right there, not 20 yards away from my stand. I waited about 45 minutes to climb down, and when I finally got my hands on him, you couldn't smack the grin off of my face! I rushed him home to show my wife and my two boys. The smile on their face was bigger than mine, and it was a great thing to experience with them all. Their smiles made the entire experience 10X better!
