Hunt Story
My dad had been gone all weekend on a trip with my brother and had gotten home after lunch. I told him that it was my turn to go hunting. We got a late start and didn't get to the stand until 5 p.m. My dad said that the wind was blowing the wrong direction to sit in the stand, so we walked out into the clearcut and set up behind some logs that were left. From there, we could see where we thought the deer were coming from. We hadn't been there 10 minutes when four does come walking by us headed to a feeder. As soon as they passed us, the 8-point stepped out to where the does were at 80 yards. My dad said that it was one of the bucks we had on camera with the long brow tines. I could not get a clear shot on the buck because of the brush. My dad asked if i could see his neck clearly, and I told him yes. He said well, put the crosshairs on his neck and squeeze the trigger. I shot and all I could see were white tails running off and knew that I had missed him. My dad said that it sounded like I had hit him, so let's go check it out. When we walked over, I saw the buck was laying there and I knew that I finally had a buck to put on the wall. My dad said since me and my brother had both killed a big deer this year, that it was his turn now.
