Clarks Hill Lake Fishing Report November 2017
GON Staff | October 27, 2017
Clarks Hill: Level: 9.2 feet below full. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Very clear.
Linesides: Guide Bradd Sasser reports, “With the temperature dropping, the quality of the water in the lake is improving, and the lake will begin turning over, and the fish are moving shallower. This time of year, fishing is a lot of fun and very enjoyable. First thing in the morning, you can find the hybrids and stripers pushed up on points in 20 to 25 feet of water feeding on herring. This time of day, downlines are the best answer, and this bite lasts until mid morning. After this bite stops, the fish are breaking up and scattering. Once they scatter, you can still find some suspended groups to downline on along the edges of creek mouths. But planer boards and freelines will also be very productive this time of day. Pull them in the fronts of the creeks. As we move closer to winter, the midday bite with planer boards in the creeks will become hands down the best fishing.”
Other: Guide Bradd Sasser reports, “The fall crappie bite has also turned on really strong around brushpiles, with trolling and anchoring both working really well with jigs and shiners. We are still seeing a lot of white perch and catfish being caught 45 to 55 feet deep off the sides of humps throughout the main channel. The catfish population has really blossomed this year.”
