Hunt Story

I saw this deer on my Spartan GoCam AT&T Cellular back on 10/16/16 and hunted him the next day. The weather has been hot, so when I didn't see him the next day, I decided to leave him alone until weather and wind direction was correct. We had another mature shooter on a different property show up during daylight in Gwinnett, so we hunted that deer the day before. The wind direction wasn't going to be right for the morning hunt, so I decided to try going after the deer closer to home for the morning bc the wind was perfect. I hadn't saw him on camera since 10/16/16, but I just thought with the overcast in the morning and cooler temps than what we have been having, it would be worth at least sitting in woods and see if I could catch a mature buck starting to check scrapes. I sat all morning with nothing but a million squirrels eating tons of acorns, so at 9:30 I decided to pack it in for the day and get ready for the evening hunt in Gwinnett as the wind direction was going to be good for that spot. As I lowered my gun and started climbing out of the lock-on, I heard steps coming through the thicket, so I pulled up my gun and loaded it as quietly as possible and got ready. I saw antlers coming through the woods but didn't know it was him until he come out of the thicket 10 yards in front of me. I took the shot, and he ran 50 yards up the hill toward the truck (Thank Goodness) and crashed. Good news is my good friend Joe Anderson killed the Gwinnett Buck that evening that we have been hunting. Joe is an expect hunter and better teacher. So glad he got the Gwinnett Buck. Congrats Joe!!
