Hunt Story
As I was watching a small 7-point chasing a doe to my right, I noticed a much larger deer following a doe 200 yards directly in front of me. I am hunting a long power line with hardwood bottoms on both sides. I used my binoculars to see that he was outside the ears and a potential shooter for our club. Well, he slowly followed a doe for the next 75 yards in my direction. He wasn't really chasing, just checking to see if there was any interest. At 125 yards, he turned to his left and started to step out of my lane. I immediately put it on his shoulder and connected. The deer mule kicked and ran about 40 yards. Another great opening week of gun season in Jenkins County.
