Hunt Story
On the evening of September 10, 2016 (opening day), my father and I went hunting. I was hunting in a climber over a food plot with a feeder. Around 7:35 p.m., I spotted the buck I shot coming from the thicket behind me. While standing in my climber, I immediately turned around and grabbed my compound bow (Elite Synergy) as well as my rangefinder. I ranged the deer at 30 yards. The deer started walking toward me along a firebreak, trying to get downwind of me. During this time I drew my bow back and estimated that the deer had moved in another 5 yards. Once the deer stopped I put my 20-yard pin in the middle of his body, and once he stopped I released my arrow. I saw that I made a clean shot right behind the shoulder as the deer disappeared into a thicket. I then called my father and waited on him to help me track the deer. We ended up finding the deer no further than 40 yards of the tree that I was sitting in.
