Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report August 2016

Blue Ridge: Level: 1.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 83-85 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The Burton bass bite has slowed some. The water temp is rising with the lack of rain, and TVA has been dropping the lake due to the rafting on the Ocoee. There has been a little topwater action at first light. The bait they’re chasing is small, so I’ve been throwing a Strike King Sexy Dawg Jr., Zoom Fluke and a Pop-R. After that bite slows down, I’m targeting deep rocky points and main-lake banks that still have any shade on them. There I will be throwing a tube and drop shot. By midday I’m starting to work my way up the river throwing a jig on any laydowns and brush and flipping the docks up river. I’m also looking at my graph to see if any bass are hanging on the river channel. In years past, the water temp is a little cooler up river, but due to the lack of rain this year, it’s staying the same as the main body. Fall can’t get here quick enough—good luck.”
