Lake Hartwell Fishing Report July 2016
GON Staff | June 29, 2016
Hartwell: Level: 1.7 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Tournament pro Kerry Partain reports, “Bass fishing has been good and should continue to improve as they set up on the summer pattern. We have been catching good numbers of 2- to 3-lb. bass, and they are biting flukes and topwater on points and humps that drop off into deep water. There has been a little schooling activity in the evenings as the baitfish begin to bunch up and the thermocline sets up. This time of year you have to move around a lot to find active bass, but once you find them, you can catch them quick and run similar places at the same depth. Later this month you can catch them on a drop shot in brush in the same areas if the bass are not chasing bait on top. We have also been catching some hybrids and stripers schooling in the evenings, and this should only get better this month, so it is a fun time to be on the water late in the evenings.”
