Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – November 2007

Blue Ridge: Level: 25.7 feet below full pool. Temp: Low 70 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Mountain-lakes fishing guide Nathan Stuart said that Blue Ridge has been tough recently as the lake turns over. “With a few days of cold weather to let the lake go ahead and turn over, then the fishing should bust loose.” When the turnover is complete, Stuart said he would have two primary baits tied on, a spinnerbait and a jerkbait — something like a Pointer 100 — and he would be hitting rocky, main-lake points. He always has a Zara Spook tied on and has had one in the boat ready to cast since March. “You are liable to get a topwater bite any time of the year on this lake,” he said. Stuart said he will sometimes pull up on a point and throw the Spook first thing. If he sees fish breaking, he is more likely to throw a fluke. “Breaking fish may hit the Spook once in a while, but they will hit that fluke just about every time. It’s a perfect bait for breaking fish.”
