Hunt Story

At 8:04 am a shooter buck came out of the bottoms into the pine where I was located. I took the shot and it dropped. After about 10 seconds it started spinning on the ground then found the ability to get up and run/stumble its way to the thicket. I called my dad and while talking to him about the shot, another buck approached from the same direction. I hung up the phone and made the shot at about 25 yards. The deer dropped in his tracks. I waited to climb down till my dad got there because this was my first hunt in a portable climber. He said it would be safer to calm down for a few minutes before trying to climb down. When he got there, I climbed down and got to this buck. After some pictures we started to track the other one. We found good blood but it managed to get into the thickest briars on the planet. We searched and searched for 3+ hours and ruined our hunting clothes in the briars. We even called in my grandfather to help. We are confident the deer is dead in the thicket but the area is so dense it was impossible to find anything. I am disappointed in not recovering him as this is the first one I have ever not been able to find, but I am excited in the harvest of this awesome 10-point. I am very grateful to God and to my dad.
