Hunt Story

I was hunting my portable stand located on the edge of a wide flat swampy creek bottom. It had been a very quiet morning, and I had not seen any deer prior to killing this buck. I had texted my son-in-law that I was planning on getting down at 10 a.m. At 9:45, I had started to pack up my gear when I noticed that the squirrels had started fussing up the bottom from my stand. I caught movement about 125 yards out in the bottom and was able to make out the rack on the buck. He was slowly making his way down the bottom. I got the buck in my scope, and when he stepped into an opening at approximately 100 yards, I pulled the trigger. He ran about 30 yards and fell over. The crazy thing was I was planning on moving the stand because I had only seen one other deer from this stand since starting to hunt the area in the middle of archery season.
