Hunt Story
We saw 12 to 15 deer this morning. It came out on Landon's side of the stand 145 yards away. We only had a few seconds to decide to shoot. Landon was able to get his gun up and make the shot. The deer jumped like it had been hit and in a couple steps, went out of sight. We got down and found some spotty blood. We looked for several hours without finding it. The deer had ran into an old cutover area and it was very hard to follow the trail. Called in a tracker, A.J. Niette and his dogs found the deer in about 30 minutes. Most of their time was spent ruling out all the places we had walked. Once the dogs crossed a creek and got into an area we had not walked in, they found the deer in just a few minutes and quickly covered about 300 yards. I can not say enough about A.J. and his dogs, they are awesome.
