Hunt Story

My dad, my brother and myself bought some cameras so we could monitor our food plots. When I checked the camera for my stand on Monday, Nov. 9, we had a picture of my buck in the food plot at 5:30 p.m. My dad said that he was in rut and I should hunt that stand only for the next few days. On Wednesday afternoon after school, Dad came home from work early so we could go hunt. I wouldn't let him take me close to the stand on the Polaris Ranger for fear of "scenting up" my hunting area. I climbed in the stand about 4:15 and waited. After about an hour, I saw a huge buck chasing a doe across the road leading to my stand. I texted my Dad and told him, and he told me to use my grunt call. I did, and in a few minutes he stepped into the food plot, and I thought at first it was a big doe. I picked up my rifle and scoped him and started shaking when I saw the horns. I composed and took a deep breath and shot him in the lungs. He lunged and ran off, and I texted my dad and told him I shot a monster. He told me to stay put in the stand until he got there because he didn't want me to jump him in case he was still alive. My dad and little brother Taft got there, and we walked downy he food plot and found blood. We trailed about 20 yards and the blood trail went cold. My dad said he must have turned and went a different direction and began looking in another area. He scanned with his stream light and immediately said he got him! I ran over to my deer and grabbed his horns! His is my biggest buck ever!!!
