Hunt Story
Had a great hunt this Sunday morning. I had a chance to hunt till about 9:30. I wanted to stay in stand all day but had to get back home. Temperature on the way to the stand was 37 and calm winds. Warmed up a little after daybreak. Saw a spike at daylight and then another came through about an hour after daylight after I rattled. Had a doe come out around 8:30 and never fed. About 9:15 I heard a deer blow about 100 yards off that was not downwind of me. At the same time, a deer I didn't see spooked to my left. Got a text that my brother and dad were about 10 minutes away. I decided to rattle one more time. They were going to drive up any minute, and I figured hunt was over. Then at the end of the bottom clearing I was hunting I saw movement. He walked out very cautious, and I knew I had less than a few minutes to make shot. Luckily he was broadside at 90 yards. I shot and dropped him right there. I knew he was heavy when me, my brother, and dad struggled to get him in the truck. He weighed in at 280 pounds!
