Hunt Story
After a hot spell then rain two days, I decided to stick it out and hunt the same stand overlooking a freshly picked cotton field. That's just where I thought I would get a shot at a giant elusive buck we named "OMG." I got picture first last year and named him. This summer he increased his range and bordering neighbors had pictures. Luckily I was the hunter he chased doe out in front of! Doe came out running into field directly across from me at 5:40. I went ahead and got double rest on rifle and prayed "OMG" was behind her. Sure enough he leeps into field and my heart leaped into throat! As I was holding scope on him, I was thinking this is a long shot. I looked out of scope to see where the doe was, and she was looking right toward woods away from me! He stopped, I took deep breath and shot! Looked like a hit, but he bolted toward woods, so I shot two more times on run. Almost dark, I walked into field and marked where first shot was. We came back an hour later and worked down field to find running tracks, which was easy after all the rain. Where second shot was, a lot of hair and guts, so I new I had good hit at 200 yards low. We backtracked blood to first shot at 185 yards, and there was hair and a little meat. Tracked from second shot to third shot and amazed a lot of hair and looked like lung hit at 220 yards. Solid trail, and I'm a nervous wreck tracking through thicket. Eighty yards in, there he is standing sideways at 6 yards. Took light off him and asked for gun that friend was carrying for me. He replies, he left it at edge of field! Luckily other hunter had his pistol in pocket. It was "OMG" and end of story! News of kill went viral and texts blazing. If it beats 150, it will be biggest buck of my life!
