Hunt Story
I was hunting in a ground blind in planted pines looking down a narrow food plot with my father in the afternoon. We saw a small buck cross the food plot around 5 pm. At approximately 540 pm, we saw a white deer step out at the feeder 100 yards away. I was able to prop my gun on a shooting stick and fired as the deer was broadside. It immediately jumped high into the air and disappeared into the thick woods. After waiting a few minutes, we went to look for blood as it was now getting dark. Not seeing any blood we shined the light into the woods and were able to easily able to see the deer since it was white. As we went to retrieve it got up and disappeared into the thick vegetation. My dad said we needed to leave it alone and we headed home where we called Taylor Farrow with Crisp County Deer Tracking Service. On his recommendation we waited til daylight and met him with his dog. Taylor was concerned because it had rained over 2 inches since I had shot the deer. We went to where we had last seen deer, and Taylor said to wait on him there and he would go with the dog. He called us within 5 minutes as he found the deer after only about 150 more yards.
