Hunt Story
Was sitting in a box stand on a powerline with my Dad. Had a food plot to the left with a 5-year-old clearcut in front of us that makes a great bedding area. Had seen several deer during the morning with 4 or 5 younger bucks cruising through. At 9:00 we heard a loud grunt in the clearcut in front of us. Within a couple of minutes, the buck had made his way onto the powerline and was 70 yards out and moving quickly to cross into the hardwoods on the other side. My Dad snort wheezed at him, and he froze. I shot him and knew it was a good hit. He ran maybe 50 yards and we found him in the edge of the hardwoods.
