Hunt Story
I sat on my stool in an old road bed with oaks surrounded by planted pines. I see deer here every year but never get a shot because I only have the distance of the old road bed to decide whether or not a buck is legal, or to make sure the "doe" I see is not really a spike. My county is QDM, so I have to be careful. I grunted at 0855 am. At 0905 am I saw a patch of deer hair in thicket. Got my gun up. He quickly walked across road and I realized he was legal so I shot him. He reared up and took off. Uh oh. I called my hunting buddy to come help me look, and sat down and shook until she got there. He was only 25 yards away when I shot him, and he ran only about 30 yards into the pine thicket. He was HUGE!!!! - OK, by my standards anyway.
