Hunt Story
My son and I were hunting on our Plum Creek lease. He was at one end of the property, and I was on the other end. About 7:50 AM saw a deer body in hardwoods along the edge of our pines. Ten minutes later the buck stepped out into the furthest left food plot and walked across it, and I grunted to stop him. Problem was he looked right at me and could not get rifle up for a shot. Then he crossed another food plot strip and then stopped in furthest right food plot but was facing away from me. I tried grunting to get him to turn sideways to me, but he just turned his head my way. When it looked like he was going to leave, I took a neck shot, and he dropped him in his tracks and he never moved again. We have had this buck on cameras for several years and believe he is 4 1/2 years old, and my son had named him Kicker for the small side kicker point on his left brow tine. From last year to this year he did not really grow much antler wise. A great opening day for gun season with my son in the woods.
