GON Outdoor Photography Contest
Kimberly Lee | March 18, 2025

Photographs of wildlife—like this amazing close-up of a gobbler taken by Margaret Montgomery—are eligible for GON’s new photography contest. Also allowed are photos of outdoor scenes, like grandpa casting from a jon boat or a father and daughter dragging a buck from a cotton field backlit by a south Georgia sunset. The winning photo will be commissioned to be painted by a professional artist for the 2025 GON Outdoors print.
Are you passionate about Georgia wildlife photography? Do you have an eye for capturing Georgia’s wildlife?
This is your chance to shine!
GON is hosting our first-ever photography contest, and the winning photograph will be commissioned as a painting by a professional artist.
There is so much to see and do in the diverse outdoors of our wonderful state, and no one sees it and experiences it like those of us who hunt and fish. We want to encourage our community to capture an image of Georgia wildlife or the hunting and fishing lifestyle in the Georgia outdoors, and enter our GON Photography Contest. Showcase your best shots for a chance to win amazing prizes and recognition!
Current subscribers or dependents of a current subscriber qualify for participation and can submit original photography with a short story or description of what their photo has captured. This contest focuses on hunting and fishing in Georgia, the animals and fish we pursue, and the people living life outdoors.
The Grand Prize photograph will inspire the 2025 GON original piece painted by artist Lita Gaitlin. The photo will be displayed in a 2025 issue of the magazine, on GON.com, and on our social media pages. A Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up will also be selected. All three winners will be mentioned in the magazine, online at GON.com, and on our social media pages and will receive GON gift sets.
Be sure to check the contest rules at GON.com before submitting your photos. Photos can be submitted to [email protected] with the contestant’s name, age, hometown, subscriber number and a 100- to 300-word short story or description of the photograph. GON will review submissions and select the top photos based on quality, composition, content, originality, creativity and general appeal. The contest runs to May 15, 2025.
