Hunt Story
I’ve been after this buck all season, started getting pics of him in summer. Steady pictures of him all summer even of him shedding in late August then he disappeared. Couldn’t hunt bow season much due to Helene but hunted hard muzzleloader and first couple weeks of rifle hoping to catch him chasing to no avail. Was home in the mountains and decided to go give it another shot. First morning back on my favorite property in over a month. My stand overlooks a creek bottom bordering a clear cut and an old ag field. It was a still 34 degrees and a really hard frost, couldn’t ask for a better morning. I seen 3 small bucks before 8 o’clock passing through the clear cut. I then saw 4 does running through the ag field adjacent to me. I was focused on them. When I noticed a big rack walking through the tall frosty grass. Didn’t have much time to think but didn’t need it. Waited for him to get clear enough for a shot and boom. Was sure on the shot so I sat back said my thanks, gathered my gear and went to check him out. He was laying right on the trail. Awesome morning
