Hunt Story

A friend and I went up for a weekend hunt on national forest land. We saw one spike the first day but no bigger bucks. The second day was slow and very windy. We split up for the evening hunt but around 4 o’clock I decided to walk back to the path we came in on and wait till dark. I sat down on the side of a ridge and within a few minutes heard something coming. I looked up to see this buck coming straight at me with his head down. He kept coming until he was about 20 yards away and then quartered to the right heading up the ridge. I shot him and he ran back down the way he came about 100 yards to where I recovered him.
