Hunt Story

I wasn’t planning on hunting at all that afternoon but my Momma and Daddy offered to watch our kids so that my husband and I both could hunt. One of our good friends actually saw this buck and videoed him earlier in the day so I got in the same stand and hoped that he would come back to the area. I had a couple of small bucks and a lot of does in the food plot and eventually they ended up right underneath me so I could barely move my head without getting busted. I was afraid I was going to miss something good. I grunted a couple of times and just waited to see if the buck would want to check it out. I looked over into the planted pines to my right and I saw the “Wide 7” making his way through pretty swiftly. There was no way that I could get a shot through the trees and he disappeared into the hardwood bottom. About 10 minutes later, he popped out 70 yards in front of me and started making a scrape. My gun was already in the right spot so I only had to get him into my scope. I shot and dropped him in his tracks with my 7mm-08. Now I’ve got two Wide 7-points under my belt. I call them my “Lucky 7s”.
