Hunt Story
Two years.. two years of history with the buck I named Shady. Last season he slipped me with my bow, while I was disappointed then I knew in the back of my mind that if he made it another year he would be even bigger. Fast forward to this summer I started taking inventory of what bucks I had on the farm, at the time I didn’t know it was the same deer but I knew by the trail camera photos he was going to be a stud. Watching him grow his antlers all summer long and looking at old trail camera photos I knew it was the buck that slipped me the season before. The cat and mouse game the we have as deer hunters is one that only we as hunters understand. Opening day of bow season this year I missed him twice with my bow while he was standing at 56 yards… I knew then the game was still on and he was winning. Countless hours spent in the woods, hundreds of dollars spent, and many sleepless night thinking about how I can win this game that we are playing, well it finally come together last night! The chase for this buck is something I will never forget, and to have my mom there to share this moment with me is something I’ll cherish forever! Thank you God for allowing me to harvest this beautiful buck and thank you Shady for the chase!! On to the next..
