Hunt Story

There’s no better feeling than when your plan comes together for that single moment. He first showed up on my cameras in late September on my mock scrape. I knew right away he was going to be my number one target, and so the chess match began. I only hunted the best days to not put too much pressure on him. When I was there, he wasn’t, and when he was there, I wasn’t... like he knew my schedule. I decided over lunch to come up with a different strategy for my evening hunt. We figured he was bedding close to my entry point and would watch me come and go, so for this hunt I took a different longer direction to my stand through thick briars and brush, and it was well worth it. Saw a bunch of young bucks chasing does as the hunt started, then around 4:00 p.m. a young 6-pointer I was watching looks up and you can tell he's nervous, and sure enough it was my target buck walking by. I waited for the perfect shot and he dropped in his tracks. Very thankful, and I wish all the hunters the best of luck the rest of this season.
