Hunt Story

I hadn’t planned on hunting, but my son asked me to go and I said yes. We rushed to get everything together and then my youngest son asked to go as well. At that point I asked my wife if she’d mind riding with us just to help with both boys. One is 8 and one is 6. She agreed. We took our two daughters to my parents and we headed to the blind. We all 4 stacked in the blind and waited. Tablets died and the kids became restless. My oldest son stood up and I began to tell him how it was “ magic hour” and that anything can happen. At that time he all but yelled “DEER!!” so I told him to sit down and be quiet. And I began to tell him how that one movement of him standing up possibly made those deer run off. This buck was seconds behind the deer he saw. His mouth wide open and tongue hanging out. He had been chasing the deer my son saw. He moved across the shooting lane at about 50 yards and I saw he was a good looking deer and my top two deer id been able to take. I took the shot and he dropped in his tracks. And the celebration began! My younget son yelled “YEAH BOY! FIRST BUCK!!” Such great memories that I hope we all remember for a lifetime.
