Hunt Story
Wells got his first doe last year and has been practicing his shooting at the Mike Commander shooting range at Chickasawhatchee WMA with his dad. He wanted to wait out for a big buck this year. Wells, his dad, and best friend got into the ground blind with fresh deer sign in the area. A smaller buck was passed up at 65 yards early in the hunt. 20 minutes later, this nice buck came into the newly planted food plot. Wells had to wait several minutes minutes for an ethical shot opportunity. After taking some time to breathe and try to calm adrenaline, he settled into the scope. The 110 yard shot with his .243 hit the mark right through the heart. Although Wells loves to track deer, he was thrilled that those skills were not needed that evening. The deer never exited the 2-acre food plot.
