Hunt Story
I walked in to my stand shortly before 7 a.m. Went to hang a scent wick with Tinks 69 and noticed a fresh scrape about 20 yards in front of my stand. Around 8 a.m. I grunted twice and used my doe bleat can. I thought I heard a grunt at a distance in front of my stand so I waited. After about 15 minutes I did another series of grunts and bleats. I noticed movement coming threw a thicket so I get my binocular and scan the area. I didn’t see anything. Within minutes of that he stepped out into a trail which skirts in between the pines and hardwoods. I noticed he was wide,d ark and huge on the right side of his rack so I knew he was a shooter. I waited on him to turn slightly to the right for a clean shot. As he was working his scrape line he made the mistake and turned. KABOOM…he fell in his tracks. It’s been many years since I got tore up by a deer, when I put my hands on him I was shaking like crazy. One of my best hunts in years. I’ve hunted 40 seasons now and this is my best buck ever!!
