Hunt Story
We've had a ton of pictures of this deer the last couple years. Steven put a lot of seat time in on him last year with the crossbow before eventually taking a different buck later in rifle season. Over the last week or so him and another buck started showing up regular in the evenings. We saw him a couple nights earlier, but it was just a little too dark for a shot. At about 7 o'clock Friday two hogs stepped out. Steven has been itching to get his first kill with the crossbow, so he took a shot on one of the hogs. About 30 minutes later we saw two does slipping around. I was watching them and kind of let my guard down. I turned and looked to my right and saw him standing in an opening. Steven took the shot, but with it getting low light I wasn't sure how good the shot was. We couldn't find much blood, so we decided to wait until the morning and let our friend bring his dog to look for him. He ended up making a good quartering away shot and the deer only made it about 100 yards.
