Watched this deer a lot last year and had hundreds of pictures of him but never could convince myself to hunt him. This year he showed back up on opening weekend and we played cat and mouse all week with three sightings from the stand. I hung a new stand in the middle of the day on Friday to hopefully get him in range. On my second sit in the new setup the action started a lot earlier than I expected with the warm temperatures. I had numerous younger bucks and does with fawns moving around within 30 minutes of getting set up in the stand. Around 7 o'clock all the deer scattered and a black cat walked right under me. Slowly I had deer start filtering back in and around 7:30 I looked over my right shoulder and he was walking right under the stand I had initially been hunting him out of. He made his way to me and presented me with a broadside shot at 23 yards and he didn't even make it 30 yards before piling up.
