Hunt Story
I got into the stand around 3:30 pm on the afternoon of opening day of archery season. The weather was poor about 15 mph winds and raining off and on all day, but I couldn’t miss the chance to hunt opening day. Even with the poor weather, the deer were on their feet. Around 6pm after seeing over 30 deer I heard horns clash together behind me and when I turned it was him. I immediately stood and drew my bow, steadied my pin, and took my shot. The entire interaction happened so fast, lasting around 15 seconds. It was a perfect double lung hit. He ran out to about 50 yards and went down. My biggest buck to date, and also the first time I’ve harvested on opening day.
